Book of the Month April: Nighthawking by Russ Thomas

Book of the Month: April

This month’s Book of the Month is Nighthawking by Russ Thomas. It is absolutely fabulous! I couldn’t put it down! Nighthawking is the second book in the DS Adam Tyler series. I haven’t read the first one, but I definitely will now. As far as crime books go, this one is right up at the top of the greats. The story is enthralling and full of twists and turns on every page. The characters are larger than life and jump off the pages as you read. I could easily see this becoming a TV series some day, it’s that good!

When the body of a young woman is discovered in Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens, it is determined that the body has been there for months. It could have been there for years if someone hadn’t dug it up. But who put her there and who dug her up? Who is she? What do the Roman coins found on her eyes have to do with it all? It’s up to DS Tyler to find out, along with the help of his colleague DC Rabbani.

The main story of this book is solving the murder of the young woman, however the stories of the main characters are also weaved throughout, which makes this book even more enjoyable. It’s wonderful being able to find out what makes each one of them tick and what drives them. I felt like I knew them all very well by the end of the book.

Reader beware however, because this book ends with such a cliff hangar that you will be hungry for the next one! Russ Thomas is clearly a new master of the Crime novel!
